Native Plant Conference: Planting Seeds of Hope

The Ohio State University, Meigs County Extension

This year's conference deals with a topic that is too often neglected by native plant enthusiasts. Who will teach the next generation about gardening, biodiversity, and a respect for nature? It is incumbent on each of us to take responsibility to pass on to these children and young adults our knowledge and passion for the wonders of nature. Imagine the delight in a child's face when they learn that potatoes have eyes; or the sense of accomplishment when they have planted their own gardens and picked their own tomatoes, beans, and corns. These are experiences that are sadly missing in the lives of today's youth. But the times are changing. Let this year's conference begin to "Plant Seeds of Hope."
The goals of the conference are a return to greater measure of self-sufficiency ; a re-enforcement of family togetherness; and a renewed bond with and understanding of nature.  For more information on the conference, guest speakers, and registration, please view the Planting Seeds of Hope conference brochure.
