NPS: A Journey to the Mississippi Headwaters

The mighty Mississippi originates in northwestern Minnesota within the boundaries of the large Lake Itaska State Park.  Tom Sampliner, photographer and past president of the Native Plant Society of Northeastern Ohio, shares his travels there to photograph flowers of the lake, state park, and surrounding scenery as a scout at the Native Orchid Conference.  Also, learn a few river facts.  Presented in conjunction with Geauga Park District.

Location:  West Woods Nature Center, 9465 Kinsman Rd., Novelty 44072 in Geauga County

Directions:  Take State Rt. 87 East from Rt. 306 in Russell Township approximately 2 miles to the park entrance on south side of the road.
