The Native Plant Society's 2024 Annual Meeting
This is an invitation and reservation only event.
We look forward to
an enjoyable and interesting evening of food, fellowship,
awards, and education with society members and guests.
Our guest speaker this year will be Ian Adams. Mr. Adams is an environmental photographer, writer and educator specializing in Ohio's natural, rural, historical and garden areas. He will speak on The World of Lichens.
The World of Lichens:
Lichens are fascinating organisms that attached
themselves to tree bark, rocks, and soil. Lichens cover
6-8% of the Earth's land surface, yet they are unknown to
most people. Lichens are a combination of a fungus and
either an alga or a cyanobacterium, and more than 700 species
of lichens have been found in Ohio.
This program is a guided tour of the world of lichens: what
they are, where to find them, how they live and reproduce, tips
and resources for identifying lichens, and their use as animal
food, as indicators of air quality, as a source for cloththing
dyes, and their importance in soil formation and enrichment.
Invitaions and ticket reservation forms have been mailed. Please return your ticket reservation(s) before October 21, 2024. Space is limited to 70 attendees.
